Timi Abdullakhan

Hi guys, today we went to the Timi Abdullakhan. There was really cold and shady. I felt myself relaxed. It was good experience for me. The market is also known as a Trading dome, built during the time of the Bukhara ruler Iskander Khan, but named after his son Abdullah Khan. The word Tim itself means a closed room for public use, from where the market takes its name. Trade has long been the most common business in the East. Heavy caravans passed along the Great Silk Road, selling, exchanging and buying goods. And one of the trade centers on the caravan route was Bukhara. The city is famous not only for the masterpieces of architectural art, but also for its craftsmen, bazaars and shops. One of these bazaars is Tim Abdullah Khan, built in the XVI century in the historical center of Bukhara. The main difference between the Shopping Dome and other bazaars is that it is completely closed and has a gate on the west side. The bazaar is built in the Persian style, which is why it resembles th

The madrasah building, as well as khanaka nearby, were named after vizier Nadir by whose order they were constructed. Vizier Nadir served at a court yard of one the strongest and powerful representatives of Ashtarkhanid dynasty Imamkuli-khan, who ruled in Bukhara in 1611-1642. The board of Imamkuli-khan was one of the most stable and relatively peaceful for the whole history of Ashtarkhanids in Bukhara. It was time when governors paid attention not only to constant wars, but also to town-planning. Initially, Nadir Divan-begi ordered to build khanaka (a place for Sufis to reflect and rest), later caravansari was added. However, at the opening ceremony, Imamkuli-khan said that caravansari was built in the glory of the Allah, therefore th

Kukeldash madrasah enters into the composition of the architectural complex Lyabi-Hauz. The madrasah was built in 1569 on Abdullah Khan's initiative. The constructed madrasah became the symbol of strong state during the governing of Abdullah Khan II. “Kukeldash” literally means “foster brother”. In hierarchy of the power, inherited from Genghis Khan the word “kukeldash” marked one of the more important court positions. The organizer of Kukeldash madrasah was the authoritative Emir named Kulbaba. He was keeping his post of kukeldash for the period of several khans of Shaybanid Dynasty. Emir Kulbaba Kukeldash facilitated Abdullah Khan II during his rise to power. According to the sacred tradition of the election of the Khan, each new Khan was raised on the canvas of white skin. Only four most influential people in the society could pull the

The minaret, designed by Bako, was built on an earlier existing structure called Kalyan by the Qarakhanid  ruler Mohammad Arslan Khan in 1127 to summon Muslims to prayer five times a day. An earlier tower was collapsed before starting this structure which was called Kalyan, meaning welfare, indicating a Buddhist or zoroasterian past. It is made in the form of a circular-pillar baked brick  ower, narrowing upwards. It is 45.6 metres (150 feet) high (48 metres including the point), of 9 metres (30 feet) diameter at the bottom and 6 metres (20 feet) overhead. In 1924, a small part of the wall and the minaret's muqarnasses  were restored.  Hi everyone! Today we went to the Mir-Arab madrasah. We learn a lot of information about this building. Now I give some of them. There are two big blue domes of the Miri-Arab madrasah towering above the surrounding buildings in the center of Bukhara. Along with the Kalyan mosque and minaret, this religious educational establishment forms the whole ensemble Poi-Kalyan that is the spiritual center of the city. Construction of the Miri-Arab madrasah dates back to the 16th century and is related to the sheikh Abdallah Yamani (from Yemen), the spiritual pir (guide) of sheybanids. The exact date of the beginning of the construction is still unknown. According to one version, scientists believe that the building was erected in the period of 1530-1535/1536. The other version states, that the madrasah was built to celebrate the victory of the sheybanid army over the troops of the Sefevid shah Ismail I in the battle of Gijduvan in 1512. It is also supposed that the final construction works were
